Default Picking up my Evo next week ..

I can't wait to get back on a Harley again it's been about 15 years... Ive worked out a deal on a 95 Electra glide ultra... But here's the scoop the bike was purchased for parts toward another build... So it's missing motor tank and skins.. Otherwise it's a complete rolling, stopping chassis ... Still has inner fairing all wiring ect.... I believe I'm getting the bike at a good price if I sold the tranny I could almost recoup the purchase price...

It's going to need oil tank and some other miscellaneous small stuff... I'm truly excited .. I'm going to put this thing into a mild custom stretched bags, 21 inch front wheel and recreate my version of a street glide....

So far I'm finding a lot of the small items it needs BUT... The hardest seems to be the outer front fairing... Any help there... I've told the 96+ can be made to fit but would really like to go with correct one....

Here's a pic

Wink

Sounds like a good starting point. You could consider using a slightly later trans, which comes with the oil tank integral and underneath, like later bikes. A nice big S&S will fit in front of that a treat!

Thanks man.. I have considered many options.. But I'm also trying to stick to a mild budget on the build.. I plan on keeping the bike but don't want to have more invested in it than it's worth... Still up in the air may end up keeping the trans since it's already there.. As well as just sticking to an 80 inch Evo motor... But who knows I really just gotta wait till I get it home and start putting the numbers together and see where I'm at...

I don't want to be the Debbie downer, but this is a virtual impossibility especially with where you are starting from, missing expensive items.

Damn you Debbie Downer!!!!! Well a man can
Hope anyhow... I'm sure it's gonna be a close if I find the right deal on the motor I think I'll have around 1800-2300 in the running roller excluding the primary and clutch... I'm shooting for around a 6k budget... I have capabilities to do all the mechanical work including paint and body work myself .. So that should save me some cash

You would have had to gotten that for pretty close to free if you want to only put as much into it as it will be worth. Not picking on you...but $5,000 bike if done basic. Not only parts....but then your time is of some value? IMHO you are much much better off parting out what you have there for like $1,300 to 2,500 and putting that towards a running bike. There is a reason the parts breakers buy complete bikes then strip them on ebay all the time. You have a great pile of parts there for that. That is the smart money. This coming from a cheap *** who has been there before. I am looking at that small pic and ONLy what I see....you are looking at $4k in parts buying decent used stuff. My guess is much more. I see some really nice bikes for that ready to go. If you are on a budget...part that out for this Harley thing to make sense. Really not trying to be mean...just seems this is an obvious mistake if you are just wanting a nice basic dresseer type HD...you will spend more time that you think and will have the added bonus to have spent more to get there.
