Thanks back... It's definitely a consideration.. I got the bike for $500 .... There may also be other parts I can grab as well we just really need to dig into the garage and look we will do that when we go to pick up the bike.... I'm still considering all the options.. I know time is money... This wouldn't be the first bike I've built, but I look at it like therapy.. I love to build and create plus it keeps me out of the bars and out of trouble... My biggest consideration is overall cost.. But I'm not really on a fixed budget and not really looking to resell and make money... I just don't want to have 15k in a bike that I have to beg to get 10 if I resell... I'm pretty resourceful when it comes to sourcing most parts... So that's all things to consider .. My biggest issue with buying a complete bike is .... I want to build mild custom street glide look so even if I were to buy a bike is remove all the bags and skins resell and buy the stretched bags same with front wheel , tire and fender... And then there's paint and body kinda seems like going backwards to buy a runner then strip and re do everything to get it how I want.. When I have the basic bones to start with.... My idea is I would rather build MY bike.. As to buy A bike and make it MINE..

I could be wrong here but I'm still considering all my options.. That and the fact I'm really in no huge rush.. I have a garage full of bikes to ride when I get the urge... I have a feeling the smart money is not in buying and building from ground up but I've never been accused of being the smartest but I do have lots of nice toys lol

Well, on a used bike that is complete, you have some stuff to re-sell or modify if you wish to change stuff. I pulled a softail I had in the back of the barn for a few years that was ugly, but complete out to re-do with the same think you have. Cheap....DIY custom build how I want it with no real intent to sell. Being through this before (after about 15 years away from HD's) and also pretty resourceful myself, I still managed to spend twice what expected looking at it. That is doing all the work myself and buying bent old stuff or chinese electronics for pennies on dollar off ebay. Just saying it is easy to overlook things like cables, pegs and what not. I am happy with my bike and almost done. But was a real kicker how fast nickle and dime stuff on an already running bike added up. I have a thread here documenting the project. I for sure say you got a great deal..may come out even. I bet if you sold it in only 5 parts you hit the $2k mark if it has a clear title. I would advise still if you have the time to just part it....take the profits and have a complete runner in your garage with $2,800 invested ($4,200 bike - profits)...save some hassle and coin in the process that way. I see a LOT of stuff needing to be bought on a big complicated bike like that.

That would be a lot of fun to get running.

But if it comes down to dollars and good sense, part it out. You can buy a nice runner (low ish miles, not all buggered up) for $5k.

Your frame, trans, forks and wheels are worth way more than you paid.

Omaha I couldn't agree more.

RM I understand the desire to build your own bike but I think you will sink a whole lot more into that one than it's worth by the time you are done.

If you haven't done it before you will be amazed at what a project actually costs compared to what you thought it would cost.

Thanks guys a lot of great input I'm seriously considering all options.. I guess the deciding factor will be when I get it home and totally take stock in what's all there but from what I saw... It's all there minus motor and primary all wiring cables ect .. I was told he bought bike pulled motor and primary and sold the skins

It would be my first Harley build I had a shovel about 15 years ago but it was a complete bike... I've built several metric bikes in the past and also a few of these
