Oil threads are forbidden on here because people cannot understand how anyone could use a different brand to them BUT generally speaking you don't use Synth in an Evo unless you like oil leaks....bloody stuff escapes...
Johnod, don't worry about the previous comment, if you have a question, any question, feel free to post it here. Now, as far as the oil questions go, you are going to get the majority of responses being a smart *** or just plain rude; that's because there are a ton of threads about that subject and it just turns into a typing war when tempers flair over which oil is better! Your question is valid so I hope someone can give you honest feedback. Good luck in your quest for knowledge.

Don't use synthetic in your Evo... there is no need to, and if you have any leaks that you don't know about, you'll know about it with synthetic. In my experience, synthetic works much better in water cooled engines. A quality 20w-50 or straight 50w dino is all you need for your evo.
John, as mentioned oil is a subject that raises blood pressures, in fact across the whole of HDF, not just in here! Our Evos were made before synthetic oils became commonly available and they are best left on the shelf, as already suggested. There are more brands available than anyone can count, many unsuitable, so it is best to tread your own path. The oils from your local friendly dealer are most satisfactory!
