Default Evo engine swap with TC.

I'm looking at a 2001 softail carb bike. The engine is shot. Thought about replacing with a Evo. Would any of you know?
Thanks!

Evo won't fit. (Tranny on TC's are bolted to the motor, not so on Evos.)
Buy a used Twin Cam or rebuild what ever's 'shot'.

Thanks, I was afraid of that. Well, the motor is missing heads, and other various parts, from the pics, anyway. I'm going to see it tomorrow. I'll know more then.

I've wondered this. Do you buy a frame based on transmission type? That's what I'm led to believe. Vulcan in nh sells an adapter for a twin cam motor into an Evo frame. I have not seen an adapter going the other way. Sure somebody made something...
Good luck,
Tom

they say the early TC 88's are bulletproof on the bottom end....you an probably pick up take off heads/cylinders/carb from someone doing a build up.
