Hey dj what are those speakers on your highway bar? Bluetooth?
I was wondering the same thing. And since he went and slapped the bars back on and didn't send them to me for proper disposal I'm wondering what they are.
The speakers are from uniqcyclesounds and I wired the amp inside the saddlebag with a plug to quick remove. That way I can plug my phone into the amp and leave it in the saddlebag, I also have a Bluetooth iPhone remote on my handlebars to control it all. I will try to get some pics today to show it all better. The bars are 16" 1.25 Carlini gangster apes, I thought about going with 18" but with the DannyGray seat it sits perfect, the bars are at my shoulders.
Hey guys, sorry to dig this thread up again but I got to test the bike good last weekend. This thing seems to run great but tends to be lacking in 5th gear. When I get on it it has no go, it will cruise fine but to pass I have to go down to 4th. I am still using the cv carb with a 45 slow and a 185 main, cv performance needle and emulsion tube, two turns out on the air mixture screw. I have a small decel pop on down hill so not sure where to go from here. I have a 195 main would this possibly help? It seems to warm up and idle great with the 45.
Thanks for any help.

What CAM is in the bike? What you describe sounds like runout where a CAM just doesn't have any more gitty-up in higher gears.
I have the woods 6, the heads are milled .060 so I should be running around 9:5 compression.
Will have to wait for the "motor heads" to weigh in here. I would only be guessing but it is an EVO 80" motor (aren't EVO's 4 speeds)? Isn't 5th gear something that started in the 88" motors?
Therefore, my "guess" is there's not enough motor/CAM together to produce enough torque/power in 5th gear. Again, just my "guess" as I'm not a motor head nor have I ever owned an EVO.
No Evo has a 5 speed the shovels were the 4 speed trans. I figure it is in the carb tuning and I know that a mikuni or S&S would probably be better but not in my budget right now.

FWIW the 5 speed cam in around '86.
EVO's started in '84.
Have you tried cleaning your carb?
Do you have an external fuel filter?
Have you checked your petcock screen for gunk build up?
