Clutch issue maybe?
Bought a 85 electric glide. Was told the bike had been sitting for at least 9 months. Here is the problems. Adjusted the clutch and cable drove it for about 10 miles and tried to use the clutch to down shift. Pulled the lever and the clutch wouldn't disengage. Was told maybe the ***** on the right side were sticking.

What prompted you to adjust the clutch? There's a Sticky over in the Tech Primary section which describes the correct procedure, so check that before going any further. The ***** mentioned are inside the r/h cover where the cable goes and require a bit of disassembly to get at. I can't imagine how they might stick! Besides your bike has a shovel style trans and I'm not sure it has the later Evo style operating mechanism, with *****.

No ***** on an 85...clutch release finger, throw-out bearing, or both have given up the ghost, common failure on that style clutch...a lot of people who have that style carry those parts with them at all times.
