Cam bearing says torrington on it,has play in it, will replace if I can figure out how to remove it.
If there isn't anything wrong with the bearing, I'd leave it alone. The Torrington bearing is the good bearing. If you want to remove it, 'Blind Hole Puller' can be borrowed from an 'Advance Auto Parts or Autozone' (can't remember which has it, locally they are across the street from eachother...In the end, you'll just be replacing the Torrington with another torrington (Koyo).
If you are changing the cam and have access to a machine shop or a hydraulic press, press the gear off the old cam and press it back onto the new one- mark the old gear with a carbide scribe referencing the keyway on the camshaft to get the timing right with the new cam. Doing it this way is very easy and you don't have to worry about measuring gear lash.

re. "Leave original Torrington alone"
Sorry brimic, gotta disagree. I know 40k miles on an EVO motor isnt a lot but with motor stripped I would definitely be fitting a NEW TORRINGTON bearing. Doesnt cost much and should give you peace of mind.
Just sayin.

Yeah, Ok, I definately agree now that I looked back at the pictures again after seeing a few of the posts above. That looks like a caged bearing to me as well.

Cannot stress that enough.
The rest sounds good though.... Do the .030 gasket..When you do get this all said and done the jetting will change and you'll need that to be close to get the power you're looking for. You should seriously consider the Dyna ignition.
It'll be a very nice build.....Your grin will actually get painful.....lol.....
Yeah gonna do .030 gasket. Caged bearing ? I do believe you could call it that, does that mean there is two styles of the torrington that I will be changing.
I'll try to get a better pic, that one was tuff.

A caged bearing has a visible cage between the rollers. A full complement bearing has the rollers appearing to touch with no space in between.
