Ive had some issues with carb pops almost since I bought my 02 XL1200 Custom. About a month ago was the last time it started, but when it did it sounded like the car from the Jetsons. Didnt run great either. Pulled my VOES this morning and tested it. Sure enough, it needs to be replaced.
Im relieved its not the carb. I hate working on carbs.
QUOTE=falconbrother;14582271]What are the symptoms if the VOEs isn't working? Yesterday I was cooking down the interstate, came to a slight hill and gave it some throttle and it began coughing through the carb, every time. In fact, it felt like the ignition cut out completely for a second or so. Then, off of idle it would do a rapid cough through the carb like every second in rapid succession. Once the rpms got up it was fine. I'm having trouble getting the accelerator pump set. It coughs and stumbles off of idle.[/QUOTE]
Just an observation.....You stated you were using Iridium plugs. My Evo did not like them very much. Put a set of Harley plugs in it, and it ran much better. The Iridium plugs gave me a stumble off idle, and a hiccup now and then between 50 and 60. Try the stock plugs, and see what happens......
