Default Quick wiring question

Is there a non-switched (ie, always hot) wire in the fairing of my '90 ElectraGlide?

The clock finally came in, and I'm going to need one. (Duh. Should have thought of that before.)

Yeah, there should be one. Look for a Red wire, or maybe Orange/Black. I think the Orange/Black is what should be used for the clock on mine. And you'll want a switched wire for the light in the clock. Where did you find a clock? I've looked. Mine cratered a few years ago.

Out of stock now. I'll keep an eye on it.

Hey, my chopper doesn't even have a place to put a clock. How about that? Maybe I need one of those bubble chopper fairings so I can put a clock and a radio and a oil pressure gauge and a volt meter and a cell phone holder and a cup holder and ....

Not bad. The clock and the compass are going to be mounted right next to each other, and there are minor differences in how the rings around their respective bezels are shaped, so there's that.

And both are a smidge different than the stock voltage and oil pressure gauges up higher on the fairing.

But all things considered, I think I'm going to end up with a reasonably competent looking install. Should have it buttoned up by the weekend.

That's a nice looking clock. I bought one that is a fork lock cover for my Road King. I really like being able to see the time while riding.

I'm guessing that there is an "always" hot lead for the radio memory. I don't know if you had a radio originally, but I'd look there.

According to the wiring diagram for a 1990 FLHTC, there is a connector #10A (3 wires - Red, Black, Yellow) off the back of the radio. The Red is fused at 1 amp and the Yellow is fused at 5 amps between the back of the radio and the connector. It looks like the harness side of the connector #10B has a Red, Black (which splits into 2 blacks), and Orange (which also splits into 2 Oranges). One Black and one Orange go into a 2 wire connector #16B. Near as I can tell, with these old eyes, the wiring diagram has the Red listed as Battery so I think it would give you your constant Hot lead. Hope this helps. Just notice that the other side of connector #16, (16A) goes to the cigarette lighter. The orange wire should be a switched hot lead. Off the Ignition switch, Green is used for lights, and Orange is Accessory.
