Default Cruise Control

I have a 91 Ultra Classic and when I turn the cruise control switch on that's on the fairing and I get above 40 mph normally around 55 mph and pressed the set switch on handlebars and it didn't set tried it at 60 and 65 mph and still didn't set. Any suggestion?

I'm new at this but what's a VOM. I do have a Manual. But haven't had a chance to look at it from front cover to back cover.

If you have the manual, go to the section on the cruise control. There will a diagnostic test you can run.

VOM = Volt Ohm Meter

No disrespect, but if you don't know what that is, you probably shouldn't be messing with anything electrical until you've gotten up to speed on circuitry design/function.

BTW: Welcome to the forum. Lot's of good help/advice here from a lot of people that know what greasy fingernails taste like.

Thank You for your help 98hotrodfatboy and Hackd. Why didn't you say volt meter. My brain doesn't recognize acronyms that quick. I know what a volt meter and yes I have a volt ohm meter. Thank You for your Welcome!!! Which I never had a cruise control on a motorcycle before, my 06 softail deluxe has a friction **** you tighten if you what the throttle at a certain speed, which I rarely used and probably rarley use cruise control on the classic. I just have the vision of the control getting stuck on and I'm not able to turn it off or control it. but I'm going to check it out this weekend. I'm at work now

Follow the diagnostics in the manual. It steps you though a test of every switch and part of the system.
