Default Starter Solenoid

Friday night I was going to fire up my 1996 bike, disconnected the battery tender, hit the starter button and got the dreaded, click, click, so Saturday morning I beat it down to the Harley shop, Longview, TX., to get a solenoid repair kid, was greeted by a cute, about 25 year old, young lady. She first said that she didn't think that they would have it, but about a minute later, she said they had one in stock, $57, about a hour later the bike was fired up and running.
That was a good visit to the local dealership...

That's because I do my own work, don't procrastinate, and haven't found anything (Yet), that I can't fix. (on a old motorcycle)
But I'm sure there will be a new problem, soon...

I don't know if she would have wanted a old 68 year old man taking her picture, but I will try next time.

Years ago at Christmas I gave all the brothers in the club the chrome push button starter end caps for emergency solenoid issues. Most have swapped bikes since then, but the old evo still has it on her.

I had one of those push button starter end caps on my 93 because I didn't trust the wiring to the switch. peace of mind for a back up.

This! Been running a push button cap for the last ten years. Haven't been stranded yet. Not quite a backup kick starter, but it's better than sitting on the side of the road.
