I had Harley ScreaminEagle lifters once...Old ones...Junk!

The EVL 3010 is about like the EV-27, but with a quiet valve train. We run the
EVL 3000 in one of ours....nice cam

In my other bike I run the EV-27 and like it pretty much
What was wrong with the eagle lifters ? I just ordered a set for my bike, someone recommended HD lifters so I went with these. As I wasn't sure what to go with....

Well, they probably changed them by now, but the ones I had were built in
2000. They ran the roller bearings right on the lifter axle.

This was the same axle they "staked" or peened to hold them in place for
assembly with a round punch. Fairly soft metal when you can do this.

They failed and cost me well over $2000 in parts to rebuild the entire motor.

A good lifter will have a hardened inner race pressed onto the lifter axle
during assembly for the rollers to run on.

The lifters that didn't fail even had microscopic distorton to the axle from
the straking process.(the roller bearings need a flat surface to run on)

Jims also had failures with their "big roller" lifters from the same process.
They have since changed the design I understand. My guess is Harley
changed their SE lifters also. I've always heard Jims made the old SE lifters
but not sure.

After that I just won't buy either anymore. I hope the new ones are alright
for your sake...Good Luck

40mpg when I ride like a normal person, but I rarely ever do unless I'm on a trip. Bike is in pieces right now.

46 slow 185 main. Needle shimmed once, light diaphragm spring. Almost 3 turns out on the needle... throttle response is snappy and crisp.

Thanks for the response, I will inspect the design when I get them and make sure it makes sense to me and see if they know how old this design is...
