Default timing cover

My wife bought me a "live to ride" timing cover for my 98 FLHR. Do I simply drill the heads off the old rivets and go back with rivets or what? Do you need to fish out the old rivet bodies after drilling the head off?

its a blind rivot , once you take off the cover you'll see another cover that is screwed on. just remove the leftover rivot parts and depending on how you need to locate your cover so up is up , either get screws a bit longer and run them through your new cover , the backing cover and into the adjustment posts if you need the holes to be on the sides or, go to a stealer and get a couple of new blind rivots if you need to have the holes top and bottom and put things back like it was

good stuff above...the hd part number for the special rivets are HD-8699 if you need them , about $1 each..you can use a regular rivet gun..these rivets are sealed on the end so nothing falls into the cone...
