To tell the truth Im not sure where its venting. Im at work but will check it out. Is it possible for it to just start making noise?

Yes
It usually means something is wearing out.
As mentioned above new lifter and cam bearing before you start it again.

Ok got a few ideas. Think I will tear her down. Bought it in 2000 and case never been open. Will replace gaskets and check stuff over. Thank you everyone for your help.

You don't have to open the cases, just pull the cone and the rocker boxes. If you're going to fix the base gasket at the same time, then keep your existing push rods.

Time to get the official factory shop manual.

Haven't heard the noise before, but,does a bad bearing or lifter sound like walking in wet shoes when they go ?

Yes got the manual. Figure I may as well get that base gasket while I am there. Hopefully it will be happy for a while then. I can see the oil bubble out of the base when its hot.
