I'm not a true believer of 2-1's. One of the best set of pipes I've ever owned were older Python III's. They carried the torque curve very nicely and really did not hamper the top end too much. The sound was pretty awesome as well. Not sure the 2-1 was worth the $1000.00 upgrade.....

So be it..... not everyone can get drags to perform, are they the best option? No... But I do get why some folks want them, probably same reason as I.
Notice I didn't say "out perform"..... Totally happy with how GREAT my bike runs and performs even if it may be ONLY 95% of its potential... This is where you say... More like what,50%
All is good.......

Now havin said that the big motor I just built....might just have to run a 2 into 1. But it will have a ghost pipe. Oh did I say how much I hated the looks?

One thing is for sure... everyone has their own taste no matter what that might be. And if it's something that really doesn't make sense to some then well so be it cause no one has to justify their desires to anyone.... Period.... And that's what makes this country such a great one.....

If you don't put a ghost pipe on it with that engine, the bike will track out of balance in a wheelie, everybody knows that.

I have been running drag pipes on my 99 FXSTC for years. I replaced the main jet with a 180, and the slow jet with a 45. Those work perfect for me with my K&N air filter. I do have mini lollypops about 4" from the end of the pipes. It only takes about ten minutes to drop the bowl off the carb and change them out. No need to remove anything else but the bowl and air filter to gain access to the jets. I have no dead spots in acceleration at all anywhere. Yeah, probably not as good as mufflers, but hey, they work just fine and sound so cool. I also have a switch on the VOES switch to cut the timing back at idle if I want a really good potato potato idle. Drives the EFI guys crazy.

This is the course of action that I had decided to take after spending today reading the service manual and watching relevant youtube videos. I am going to replace all of the gaskets, o rings, and diaphragms in this carburetor. They are 17 years old and been sitting idle for 16 years.
I had almost zero knowledge or understanding of CV carbs before this weekend, but now I haven't any fear of it.

I'll give this a try. The "sound" is as much a part of the Harley experience as the ride itself. That is the reason for putting drags on to begin with.
I thank you and everyone else that made useful and relevant posts in this thread.
