It's not back pressure that is the issue. It's the reversion.

And for sure the cones work. I noticed no difference going back and forth, both are great.

Here I'll make it easy for you guys. This video opened my eyes:

I love straights, but I'm 60+ now and my wife won't let me have them. Lol
I drop it at about 5800 and shift at 7... through cutouts....

I never let off the throttle. When the hand went up I'd nail it, then I only let off at the finish line. Not when shifting. I power shifted.
I beat some pretty nice cars on a bike back then. Lol. Hopped up cars in the 70's man, on a bike. They ran good back then man.

My brother-in-law said he'd lay in bed a listen to me run them at night and i was miles out of town. lol. Straights sound good imo. Lol

The exhaust gases themselves do not get reflected back up the pipe. They escape out the end of the pipe. It is the shockwave that travels ahead of the pulse of hot gas that runs into a wall of cold air at the end of the pipe, which causes the hot gas to slow and expand. The shockwave starts another wave (the one you hear) by hitting the "wall" and at the same time is reflected back up the pipe. It can either help you or hurt you, depending on how the pipe is tuned.

After two aluminum rear ends and three aluminum transmissions I stopped power shifting a Corvette.

You might enjoy my friend's real 1969 Z28 w/ its 302... he has a dog box tranny built for this. Watch his left leg.

Hay, I had to drop at 12.5 or it would come up. Drop at 12.5 it just spun a little then went on good. No biggie. Drop less I'd be wrecked. Lol.
