You are looking for opinions so here's mine: I'd try a 34 tooth countersprocket first. That big motor has the torque to pull a taller final drive ratio.

I've explained my 6-speed rush of blood elsewhere around HDF. Despite my S&S 107" (and failing miserably to afford a 124"!), when climbing Alpine hairpins loaded to the gunnels, with a very sharp climbing bend, stock gearing is a struggle. Unfortunately these are circumstances where it isn't safe to stop and take a photo, to illustrate the challenge!

There are stacks of pics on line showing dramatic scenes with umpteen hairpins, but none showing any of them up close and personal, at the moment of turning back on yourself. They are not for the feint-hearted, or the wrong gear, or high gearing - or a fidgetty passenger! No way would I install a 34T on a 124" Glide and attempt some of the hairpins we've experienced - that's one situation where more cubic inches are not much help.

I've actually used the Baker 27T comp, along with a 30T trans pulley. The 30T simply compensates for my 17" rear wheel, the 27T gives me a slightly lower first, etc, along with a slightly higher 6th.

I used to always look for a 6th gear until I added a tach.
Since adding the tach I haven't looked for 6th in the last 2 years. YMMV

It happens when I don't have time to look at the tach, which translates to - when hauling azz

think you need to stick to the OP's situation and not reply to your own !! the bike is a 95' softail ...not a loaded up heavy Geezer Glide !!

Thread drift happens, and often contains useful information. Think you need to get over it.
