I am in the process of rewiring an old 1985 wide glide...the existing wiring is so butchered need to almost start over..I can't get a complete harness anywhere that I can find. I ordered a "main" harness...which appears to be for the later 1985 run of bikes which must have a starter relay...I currently do not have now, just the solenoid. Looking for advice on simple wiring...I am adding all the control switches back on to the bike, Start, kill, horn, turn signals ect...I am posting a pic with an item that is circled....is that a wiring connector or is fuse/power block? MY next question would this be an easier solution to wiring this bike back up? http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/r...uit-fuse-block. I just want to do this once and correct. Thanks for any input I can get.
What you have circled is a junction under your seat bolted to the rear fender, it's a meeting place for many many wires....
Thanks....that explains that then...mine has been removed...just trying to figure out the best way to proceed ugh... I found all three circuit breakers...so thats a start. Ill look at connecting the headlight and taillight to the power side of the ignition switch first. Then figure out the turn signals next. Then the starting system wiring. Currently the starting system is pushing down on the rubber solenoid boot, on a metal tab to jump the solenoid. Do I really need a stater relay? my diagram doesnt show one...but if its better to have one...its no better time to wireone in...I have the later version of the wiring diagram with a relay added as well....

I think what you have circled is some kind of junction block. There were no fuses in '85. Just breakers.
I can't believe someone removed the starter relay. Damn few switches can handle the 10 amps that the solenoid draws.
Currently the starting system is pushing down on the rubber solenoid boot, on a metal tab to jump the solenoid. I have an early production model..my diagram doesn't show a relay...but the later model current year one does...
