So here's the problem. I had poly before and didn't like I got a lot of buzz but I haven't tried them since installing the tbars so I went rubber for now. I might try the poly soon again but I have to get this sorted first and need some help. I have 2 questions.

First is the ground wire from the bolt to triple tree really needed? What is it grounding? It's a bitch to get it tight with it on there. I snapped it twice and repaired.

Second. The bottom of my tbars are 1.25 round and the threaded part is recessed. So resting on the top washer of the riser bushing is actually the round portion of the bar only, the thin outline and not a solid flat area. The hardware store doesn't have any washers that will take up that space. What's happening is I can't get them tightened down good because I'm just squishing the hell out of them and it's bending the top washer until it distorts enough to make it hit the center spacer. It's pulling them way too hard before bottoming on the spacer. Suggestions?

It's back together and I intend on riding it for now like this but it takes about 15 minutes to pull the bolts and redo it when I have a good solution.

Remove spacer and bring it with you to Napa and purchase one that will work, they have all sizes to choose from, even if you need to cut to correct length yourself.
Keep in mind that too long means too loose, you need that happy medium squish when tight to new spacer.

Thanks I didn't even think of that. The real problem seemed to be the bottoms of the tbars being 1-1/4 diameter they put all the pressure on the outside of the cupped washer so the tighter I went it just destroyed the cupped washer on top and caved the bottom in the center from the bolt. The center never touched the sleeve either. The bottom ones went the opposite and bent in the center and not the edges. Picture below shows it and this was at only 30ft lbs not even the 35-40 per the book. I went to a different hardware store and found some washers that fit inside the bottom of the bars to take up the space. I was able to get them torqued to 35lbs today without any bending or crushing and they aren't pancaked flat and cracking. Pain in the *** but it's right now and torqued to specs.

Just got back from a ride and all I can say is night and day difference. The vibrations I've been bitching about for 2 years are gone. When it does vibrate I feel it in the foot pegs or seat and not the bars at all so I'd say these bushings are doing their job. I'm completely shocked at the difference a few washers and some rubber riser bushings have made.
