If it was me, the steps from here would be:

1) Remove seat. Look for missing bolt.

2) Remove tank. Look for missing bolt.

3) Keep taking stuff off. Keep looking for missing bolt.

4) Having pretty much stripped the bike to the frame, observe that the location of the missing bolt is nowhere to be found.

5) Put it all back together. Good time to go to work with the blue Locktite.

6) After completion, observe that I now have TWO loose bolts in my hand.

Maybe on the rockers? But that one is too short...I wouldn't use grade 8 most other places...certainly Not motor mount...that needs to flex .. Not Break.

Ehh. Keep it in your pocket and ride hell out of it. When something starts moving around making noise you'll know where it went and you'll have it with you to fix it.

I'm thinking that where ever it came from, if you really needed it you'd know it by now.

Ask the Indy if he lost and couldn't find it and got a new bolt, tell HIM where you found it, simple.

I admire your ingenuity, but I'll take the ride it till something falls off approach. Thanks to all for their input. I'll chalk this up to one of Life's simple mysteries.
