Tried checking the codes. The light flashed rapidly after the 8 seconds and then after the 2 second pause it flashed just as rapidly as before. It would flash about 11 or 12 times and then a slight pause and flash 11 or 12 more times. It did this repeatedly. I was a little low on fuel so I did fill up as suggested, but no change. Thanks again for all the help.
You have no codes. That's good news and bad news. It would be easy if you simply read the code then replaced the bad sensor. I don't think you have a head temp sensor issue. I've replaced several of them on my 98 RK and when they go bad, your bike will do all sorts of funny stuff.
One thing you might try is to recalibrate your throttle position sensor (TPS). There is a couple or two videos of the procedure on youtube. You also will adjust your hot and cold idles when doing this procedure. The TPS can get slightly out of calibration causing loss of power. Mine did and after I adjusted it, it ran fantastic.
This may not be the problem but being the owner of a FI EVO, you ought to check the setting regardless.
