Ok, just got the sticker shock on the 10,000 miles service from the dealership. --$550 ! Going by other posts here, this is a pretty simple task to due by oneself, or with the help of friends... The service manual states alot of inspections, and adjusts...I have a few more miles to make that number, any suggestions? Is there another more affordable option? Thanks Rob
Buy yourself a manual and do it yourself. With the manual, fluids, plugs, and air filter, you'll save $425. If you have any modicum of working with basic tools and reading step by step directions, it's easy.
I think with the cost of the manual and since I use all synthetic lubes my total was $135 for my 10,000. It took me about 3 hours including a wash and wax after.

Dealer doesnt even give you a wash and wax for the $550
Just dropped mine off tonight, worked good as I leave for vaction saturday, anyway $300.00includes a detail job, couldnt go wrong. I have heard so many horror stories on this form about dealers, but I must say I'm sold on the help my dealer has giving me, My mechanic has allowed me to go into the shop area, showed me how to change my own oil, showed me other dynas with the primary cover off and explaind the inner workings, I guess I feel very lucky to live in Nebraska.
