If it's like my '94, there is one "main" 30 Amp breaker on the inside of the rear fender, near the starter motor, under the oil tank. there are then three 15 Amp circuit breakers under the dashboard, between the fuel tanks. One for "ignition" (including oil & neutral lights), one for "lights" (headlamp, tail lamp, running lights), and one for "accessories" (turn signals, horn, stop lamp, speedo light).
The ignition switch divides the incoming power from the main breaker into the three circuits I've mentioned. Checking what functions work and what don't when the "lights go out" should point you in the direction (circuit) you need to look.
