Cable driven speedometer that jumps to 120 mph but later drops.
I wonder if the cable inside the cable sleeve is binding causing it to wind-up.
Then as tension builds it releases causing the over-spin of speedometer.
If that is the case then maybe the removal and review of the cable might provide some answers.

The only time I've had one bind up it twisted itself in half.

Just called dealer and they don't have it. Maybe that's why when you see one on eBay it's twice the cost of new sometimes.

Is it obsolete??
Did they run a nationwide search to see if any other dealers had one?

Looks like speedo is 3 years only. 96 -99. I hate to buy used so might look into drag special, as anybody used & still work with turn cancel?

Oiled it up. Last year used that wax stuff, thinking it's to sticky, speedo was stiff. Don't seam to be any replacement for this year. hoping that takes care of it maybe caught before totally trashed it. Every time it has wound up I've slowed to almost stop so it don't wreck it.

I'll ask again.
Did your dealer do a nationwide search?

Yes I'm sure they just checked Moco when I called, maybe I'll see if they can search when I stop by.
