Default Vacuum lines

Y'all are gonna get tired of me asking these questions on a weekly basis, lol. Anyways, new-to-me 1996 Ultra EFI that has been basically sitting a lot more than not over the last 3-4 years. Fixed the fuel leak at the regulator, bought some plugs and Accel wires and put them on. Air cleaner is next.

After putting the plugs in, I am pretty sure the wires were brittle on the inside and I probably finished them off pulling the plugs out. So on goes the new wires. I took it out for a 4-5 mile ride on the highway, and it seemed ok on the highway, accelerated well from 60-80, but when I got back in town it wouldnt hardly idle at the train tracks I got caught at. Roughly 500-600 rpm and kinda still felt like running on one cylinder (shaking pretty good). But on the highway it was smooth, sounded good and accelerated well. I am kinda leaning towards maybe a vacuum leak. But not sure. I had the tank slid up a few times to give me extra clearance for running the wires. Didnt ever fully remove the tank because the injected fuel lines are kind of a pain, plus the crossover line. I did a search here on vacuum lines but didnt really find anything that pertained to my issue. I am wondering if there are any vacuum lines in that area I could have possibly tore/popped off. I had the air breather cover off to look at the filter and inside the butterflies on the injection.

Am I thinking goofy on a possible vacuum line leaking/torn/popped off/etc.? Should I be looking somewhere else?

Thanks in advance...

start with re sealing the intake manifold and the injector hat to the manifold

fix one thing at a time - and that is a good bet

The first thing I would do is reset the hot idle. Run your bike for about 15 minutes then bring it home. Take off the air cleaner and backplate. The hot idle adjustment screw is a T15 Torx and is located on the lower right hand corner. Put an electronic tach on your bike and adjust it in until it goes up to 1000 rpms. That should be all you need to do unless the idle was good then suddenly went to hell. In that case, it may be something else.

Just what EFI system do you have on a 96? Is it the old Magnetti Marelli EFI SYS ???..Like a throttle body sprayer rather then injection?

Lot of good stuff on youtube and it's a good system as long as you understand it.

Thanks for the tips guys. As soon as it gets slightly cooler in the garage, we'll run out and try some of these options. It is the older MM injection.
