Very cool! I made it to Radford Va tonight, after work.. no good pics yet.. off to PA tomorrow.. Great suggestions!
Enjoy and ride safe. "Beep" when you go through Waterford CT on Rt 1....I'm a couple of blocks off of it.
If you're literally staying on Rt 1 all the way, yeah some pain in the butt areas through CT...lotsa business areas, stoplight after stoplight. But once you're east of New Haven CT...and break out of Branford...(exit 53-55 area of I95).....it starts to open up a bit and some nice areas as you go towards Old Saybrook. Then you cross the Connecticut River...(exit 70 off I95)...and you can follow the coast for some nice riding. Crossing the Thames River (New London/Groton)...gets icky through Groton..but once you're on the east side of Groton and break out towards Mystic...it's nice all the way to the Rhode Island. Do yourself a favor, while cruising through Rhode Island, Rt 1 "sorta" follow the coast (Watch Hill, Misquiamicut Beaches)...but stay even close to the shore and take "1-A" whenever you can. It always weaves back into main 1.
The lower 1/2 of Rhode Island is gorgeous along the waterfront beaches, into Narragansett, etc. Lotsa good seafood stops.
Northern part of Rhode Island, as it nears the MA border..."meh"...focus on breaking out of the north side of Boston and it's good again. (lunch tip...stop in NewburyPort).

I was planning on staying 95 through Boston, but will adjust the route a bit based on your suggestions. Looks like a nice loop from Westerly to Warwick. If you think that's a good ride, I'll take it.. Even with a few rain delays, I've made pretty good time. I'm in Sleepy Hollow Village area tonight. Should be beeping at you by 11 at the latest! Thanks again!

Ahh there's some sweet riding north up along the Hudz....but that's a side track for you.
IMO....yeah, following that coast of RI...from Westerly, around that bulge and connect to 95 back up around Warwick is worth it. A little extra time, but I love that bottom coastal 1/2 of RI. Some nice beach shoreline.
So, I've already realized, I will be back.. Coming through PA and NJ yesterday, I could see that there was more that I'd like to see in the region, this begins the totally "new to me" trip.. can only imagine what's in store today... the plan is the hit the RI "loop" before lunch, then head toward Jackson, NH for the night.. looking forward to some good seafood along the way!
Bentley's saloon is a must stop on rt1 in Arundel Maine, great seafood, bbq, cold beer, lodging,(rooms and camping) live entertainment, great friendly bikers !!!!
Avoid rt1 Ri late afternoon or you will be in beach traffic for hours (born in Warwick Ri) I will be in Narragansett some time today if you're nearby PM me you're cell number and I will check my phone at our stops, if you'd like...
Well BV, I tried... got there, saw the line, literally half way around the building at 3:30 and moved on.. looked like a great suggestion based on the people waiting. I'll have to try it next time for sure.. time was an issue, didn't get to do 1A in RI either, the ramps were blocked and traffic looked bad.. anyhow, I'm chillin at the bar in Conway. Plan to ride through the mountains tomorrow on the way to Ft Kent.. great suggestions guys, much appreciated!!
