Just got my s&s hvhp pump and need some confirmation on the oil line routing. I have cover 31-6079 and from what I figure hole 5 should be the the oil tank to pump feed, hole 4 should be pump the filter.
See pg2 for the cover hole numbers.

4. Lower oil supply hole. (Tank to pump.)
5. Lower oil return hole. (Pump to filter/cooler/and on to tank)

The OP already has the S&S unit and only needs help with the install, and if you are fixated on the gauge that's your fault, not the gauge's.
