Default speedometer help

Ok so this is my first post here on the forum. I may be posting a repeat question but I have looked and didn't see a answer to help my situation. So, I ride a 98 road king classic. The problem is that my speedometer and odometer stop working when I turn the bike off after riding for a while. After the bike cools down the problem disappears. If I keep it running when I stop it will give me no problem. Self canceling turn signals stop at that point also. I have replaced the speed sensor but with no help. The wiring looks good but I could be missing something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like an ignition/wiring issue. As in you loose the constant power (memory power like in your car radio) when you turn off the ignition.

Thanks for replying. Sorry to sound dumb but where would I start checking for something like that? Is there a possibility the ignition switch is bad?

Yes, I'd start at the ignition switch. Use a multimeter and get an extra set of hands.
