Prayers off to you buddy for his recovery and managing his new challenges. Sounds like he'll handle them well. I know we all are just one micro-second away from similar fate.
Prayers for Craig. He helped me a lot back when I bought my Fatboy on the old forum msn tech talk. His Panhead is his heart and pride. Built and maintained by his sweat and will.
Very sorry to hear about your friend. For what it's worth, I was hit by a kid looking at his phone that went left of center in a curve and got me this past March. Wiped out the left side of my bike, and ended up losing my leg below the knee after 4 surgeries trying to save it. I've been in my prosthetic about 2 months now, and I'm hoping to be back on the bike again by fall, as soon as I get it back together. It's a different life now, but with determination there are more possibilities than you can ever believe.
If your buddy is on Facebook, tell him to find the group 'Amputee Motorcycle Riders'. Lots of encouragement there and work-arounds to stay on 2 wheels.
All the best to everyone involved with him and his recovery!
