currently have a 92 electra glide, and wondering if i can run 95 exhaust on it? part options are very limited on the 24 yr old bike so trying to figure out what i can run from newer bike on it
Now ... I can't tell you about other systems but I do know that you can swap out a Harley system.
Something to remember is that Rinehart True Dual mufflers are different. They are 2" inlets. If you decide to make any changes the mufflers won't fit anything else. All other slip-ons are 1.75' inlets.
Well ... You've got a problem with "slip ons" for a 92 ... they use a flared/flanged inlet muffler. You'll have to change the head pipes OR cut the existing head pipes ( I think it can be done ) to get the slip-ons to fit. If you cut them too short you'll have problems attaching the rear supports.
My '91 headers were cracked in a couple places when I decided to swap out for true duals. I went with Supertrapp duals and pipes. Worked out great and sound awesome! Here's some info.
The flared tips of the early pipes can be cut off, so that later slip-ons will fit. Otherwise headers off bikes up to 2008 will fit, which lets you use whatever mufflers you fancy. My SuperTrapp 2-into-1 is for an '08. The only thing to be aware of is that some '07 pipes and all '08 pipes use O2 sensors, which would require blanking plugs (which I have in my SuperTrapp).
