Default Evo CV Carb Jets

99 Fat Boy, 80", CV Carb. After market exhaust (V&H long shots), K&N Filter, where would you start?

Start with an inventory - what are the stock jets, what jets are actually in the bike now. Then identify what is not working. Is it popping on decel? How do the plugs look (rich/lean)? Has the mix been adjusted? I have had nothing but benefit from "shimming the needle" even on a relatively mild bike, so add that to the list.

Carb is totally stock. I plan on getting the tuners kit from CV Performance. This replaces the jets, slide needle and slide spring. Just not sure on the size jets to get. It does come with a couple of size of each jet.

The CV kit is good stuff. Just work your way through their supplied instructions and you'll be in good shape.

I just checked out that tuner kit. If you go that method, it's fine, but the reality is that you'll likely "land" on the next step larger pilot or possibly two steps - but if your bike is running fine (no info there) then it may only benefit from the next size larger jet. A $5 purchase rather than $75. Stock doesn't say much - in the case of California - a stock bike can vary from the other 49. Without history the only thing that matters is the little numbers on the existing jets.

Here's a site I like: http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/hd_cv_mods.htm

Both methods will require trial and error. One method will be more efficient.

My 99 FXSTC has drag pipes and K&N air cleaner. I have a 45 pilot and 180 main. Works well and I get right at 50 mpg.

When I had a CV carb with K&N filter and Kerker 2 into 1 pipes, I ran a #45 pilot jet and a #185 main jet. Bike ran great and delivered 50 MPG.

Thanks for the info. I did order the tuner kit from CV Performance. I'll report back after the re-jetting is complete.
