Default 99 fatboy spark problem

Hi everyone thanks for viewing I purchased a 99 fatboy with the carbed evo on Saturday with 24100 miles. Bike ran great for 140 miles I changed the engine oil and primary oil with Mobil 1. Although on the way home I was cruising I'm fifth gear and engine shut off. Checked for spark none found I let it sit for twenty minutes fired right up and run again for two miles. Then again same thing continued this process for ten miles. I found the ignition pickup melted today and feel this is the problem. Sorry I am ordering a manual this week just missing the last little bit of prime riding time this year. Could the melted sensor be the problem or am I fighting a losing battle and I should look člsewhere.

Yes it could very well be your problem.
Whether it is or isn't all of your problem it needs to be replaced.

Just wanted to say thanks everyone who offered advice. I installed a older sensor today and just reused the original terminals. Bike broke down again after two miles not sure if I couldn't see it before or what but had spark but found that the Petcock was not feeding fuel unless on reserve. Ordered a petcock from jp today runs great on reserve though just wanted to say thanks and close this. I cleaned my ignition switch and cleaned the grounds to try to prevent future problems.
