I apologize for breaking into this thread but being new I can't seem to find how to start a new thread...
I have a stock 1340 Heritage with Vance and Hines Longshots and a Hypercharger. I just snagged an S&S Super E and don't know if I need to change the jets for the open pipes and breather. the jets that came with it are .0295 and .072...anybody with similar setup or other help would be appreciated.
I've already seen the S&S jet specs so don't message me them.
Go back to Evo Classic Models forum and right at the top left hand side you see a little rectangular box that say's "New Thread" Click it and go. Not sure but you might need a few more posts to be able to start a new thread.
As for the jetting Yea that will be a good start. Get yourself a few sets of NGK BRP5ES plugs at Advance auto for like 2.49 each. (great plug by the way, Evo's respond well with them) between jet changes put on a good 100 mile's (If the response of the throttle feels good) to be able to put a recognizable burn on the plugs and then check out some of the plug reading websites and you should be good to go. The biggest thing is being to lean and getting detonation. That would be audible and visible (little pepper like specs on the porcelain way down inside the plug. good luck... One other tip. don't lug the motor. Won't get a good read...

Those jets should work depending on the year of the manufacture of the carb.
If it has an adjustable breather jet then those jets will work for you.
what is that? Adjustable breather jet.. My brain is fading right now......
agreed on the hyper charger....
Think I figured out what you meant. Is it the external air bleed for the main jet?
I don't remember the correct term right now but if you flip the body of the carb over and see a main jet (0.40 I believe) towards the rear and kind of recessed then it has an adjustable breather jet.
The older style carbs (pre '04) just had a hole in the body of the carb.
thanks to all and its a 2006 so yes an adjustable breather jet...what's wrong with the Hypercharger. It came with this, first year out 1986 "Cream-Puff", signal red and vintage white and the chrome Hypercharger sets it off...seriously... though a few others did tell me to pull and cap the vacuum hose to it.

They call it the main jet air bleed. It controls when the main jet starts to pull fuel for tuning the midrange. If I remember right making it bigger makes the main come in later.

That would be correct. Its used to help decrease the chance off a rich mixture when the intermediate and main overlap... Usually around 2700-2800 rpm..

All "hype" and no charge mainly. Blocking the vac hose and wiring them open makes it at least functionally better. Pretty much anything other than stock is better than that to most people.
