When crossing to Europe we have several options: tunnel, ferry or yes we could try the amphibious option! Probably not wise. We'll more likely take a ferry when going in April for a few days, to visit the Somme WW1 area.

If you make it across we'll be delighted to meet up! No idea how many Avons I've bought over the years, but will be buying another shortly, for Buttercup. Her rear tyre is starting to steer her, so that has to go before the new riding season starts.

Know what you mean, I try to have one spare in the shop, creeps up on you fast. Hopefully I will get to ride more this year...

Prot,

Jake Wilson 99% of the time has the best price on tires, and fast shipping

https://www.jakewilson.com/

not a big difference, but those two MC II's are 245.87. free shipping, and no tire fee, whatever that is,
create an account and you earn $7.38 in JW quick cash to apply to your next purchase.

didn't see tubes and rim strips on your list,

Avons - 225.76

Dunlop AE - 272.29

I've run all three brands, and they're all good,

The Avons have the best grip and stable feel,

the MC II's last longest, IMO and look the best,

the Dunlop AE's grip and wear are somewhere between the two,

Metzlers don't make the list

I was going to get the tubes and strips from the shop that is going to install them. I was going to get the tires from him as well but when I came across that sale on Dennis Kirk, I figured I better jump on it.

I'll keep Jake's in mind next time. I was not aware of that site.

Damn water pump went out in my Jeep again last night. In September they just changed it under warranty with only 29,000 miles on it. So, this morning I am sitting at the dealer waiting for them to open up. Glad the Corvette is fixed so I can use it to get around since it definitely is not a good day to ride my bike.

Turned out it was a cracked thermostat housing on the Jeep.

It's got 36,100 miles on it, so it's 100 miles out of warranty, but they are taking care of it anyway. It's hard to complain when a repair is free. The only thing it cost me was the fee for an uber driver to take me home and to take me back to the dealer to pick it up.

Apparently it's made out of plastic.

I have to admit that if you have a touring model with the fairly fat 16" tires, and ride conservatively, the difference between Harley Dunlops and anything else won't be as noticeable, but put anything in the power delivery above a stock 103 and push hard, you should really notice the difference. Any model with skinny front tires, especially 21" and above, should have a very noticeable difference in handling with tires that don't have "Harley" on the sidewall. No motorcycle should wiggle on tar strips. I wish it wasn't so, would be nice to have Harley on the sidewall of a real performance tire. Maybe someday. Meanwhile, I won't sacrifice handling just for the name.
