Lifters now or lifters in a few thousand miles? I'd do them now while you had it all apart.

Why don`t you just come out and say you think we are full of $hit?

Believe what you want, but it is a known fact that the Evo lifter was a failure prone item in its original configuration, which was used through the `97 model year.

The failures were the reason the factory re designed the part...

The newer configuration lifters should be changed out every 40,000 miles or thereabouts.

But, what do we know?

I suggest that you prove us wrong and never change your lifters...

Ha. Like I said, I've come around and am gonna change them while I've got it open. I put a lot of miles on my bike, and I don't wanna be worrying about the old ones while I'm riding.

I'm leaning toward a set of the Johnson-Hylift slow leak lifters. People seem to like them here on the forum.

Otherwise the S&S lifters, but they're twice as much and have mixed reviews.

There is nothing wrong with OEM Evo lifters, I`ve been using OEM lifters and OEM solid pushrods with an EV 27.

This setup works fine and is quiet (I used the gear from the stock cam).

Interesting i have been doing a ton of research reading old threads on this as the ev 27 and cam bearing upgrade is the project i have been planing for next year.

I thought everything i read leaned towards the s&s being the best just expensive compared to the others.

I'll be interested to hear if people with high mileage experience chime in.

Not sure if you consider 40k high mileage but mine are working fine.
