Wow TSheff, great looking bike! Nice to see the older EVO's still surfacing, especially with such low mileage. Your bike is the closest looking to mine that I have come across yet... not too many with that color combination that I found. Sweet ride, and best of luck. Better yet I have someone new to ask question about my '89 to!

Not sure Beemervet... The bike has the factory artwork on the rear tourpack showing the designation of the "Sturgis 50th Anniversary." I was told from several HD employees from various dealerships that his was a special edition. I thought it was pretty cool. You can see the markings on the tourpack in my avatar.

That doesn't make sense either... The first Sturgis Rally was in 1938 so that would make 1988 the 50th Anniversary. I guess the MOCO was a little off or Late!!

When I get back out to my barn in the coming days I will post up a picture of the artwork on the tourpak. This has had me baffled since I bought the bike in '12 and would enjoy some insight on what I actually have... on the front of my bike, I have two hand painted colored eagles (one on the fairing and one on the front fender.) I was told that based on the artist's insignia, it more than likely came from the custom paint shop.

If you haven't done so, it is worth entering your VIN in the H-D website, just go the Owners tab. That will give you full details of your bike and confirm year of manufacture. It is just possible your bike is a '90 model, but made late '89 - or an '88 model not sold and registered until '89. Just a thought!
