Do you run tires that are designed for tubes? Or do you use tubeless tires with tubes? It seems it would only apply to running tubeless tires with tubes.
It makes intuitive sense to me that if you designed a tire to be run tubeless and then put a tube in it the performance characteristics would be different and then plausible that different tire pressure would be optimal for the different performance characteristics.
But it this is the case and if you had a tire that was being used both with and without tubes, the manufacturer should have different specs for the different application.
I run the "stock" Dunlop D402 tires which are "tube/tubeless". The owner's manual recommends 36 front and 36 solo/40 with passenger rear and the manual makes no distinction between the Softail models with or without tubes (Fat Boy vs. Heritage).
Inner tubes add no significant "stiffness" to the sidewall (they're very flexible rubber and have no reinforcing cord), and, IMO, should make no significant difference.
