Default Cam choice EV13 or EV27

I know this has been covered many times. Yes it's a subjective choice, and that's why I am posting this question.
Big Bertha, my 1984 Evo powered FLHTC, has developed quite a bit of lifter noise. I am going to install new lifters and a new cam. Years ago, I had a 1991 FLHT. Put close to 60K on it with an Andrews cam, adjustable push-rods etc. I cannot recall whether the cam was a 13 or a 27. What I can recall is the bike really came alive at around 3,000 RPM, and was MUCH better for 2-up cruising at 75 MPH, or right around 3,500 RPM.
So..... in your opinion.....did I have a EV13 or EV27?
Current ride has big sucker air cleaner, CV Keihen carb and Paughco fishtails.
Thanks in advance-
Mike

I have the ev27 in my '97 flht. I have never met anyone that was unsatisfied with the ev 27 upgrade from a stock cam. I love mine.

Well, now you have. I had the EV-27 in my bike for a brief time and pulled it. valvetrain noise was unacceptable to me, and any gain abaove 2500 RPM was negated by loss below 2000 RPM (or so I remember-it was 20 years ago).

The 27 sounds like what the OP may have had. I just didn't like to wind the Softail tight enough, often enough to benefit from it.

Haha! I knew someone would chime in. It's very subjective, that's why they make so many different kinds. I'll stand by my EV 27 (with a little top end noise)

I put an EV13 in my '96 Superglide. I'm very happy with it. Good strong pull from stop to freeway speed. I haven't noticed that it runs out of steam on the highway.

I'm going with the ev13 in my '96 superglide when I put new lifters and cam bearing in over the winter. Like the down low grunt of the Harleys and want it to stay like that.

That almost sounds like an EV-46.

I meant next winter haha haha. This winter I'm rebuilding front end with +4 tubes, repaint, remove and clean all the brakes, most of its done. Need to get moving on the repaint though. Have some left over from last time.

I have EV13 in my Heritage along with a few other minor things. I like that it pulls hard right from idle. It doesn't run out of steam at higher speeds but I usually don't ride crazy speeds anyway. I have opened it up before and eased off the throttle when I saw the needle get to 100 mph and still accelerating. I usually go the speed limit though and when I do speed, it's 5 mph over at the most.

Two up on a heavy bike, the EV13 is the better choice due to more torque at Low rpm which makes for a better launch. It also is the better choice in mountains and steep inclines, so I am told. I am a flat lander and at sea level.

I have a parts list around here somewhere I can post later if you like. I never had it on a dyno, but it just feels great. I haven't ridden since Christmas due to declining health but I am getting better.
