hi I was thinking of looking at an 84 evo flh chain drive 5 speed. Any thoughts on issues with the first year evos? I thought the 5 speeds were all belt drive. Is the motor a shovel bottom end ? Thanks for your help
Like this?
36K miles, enclosed chain drive which is original and works pretty good, yes the 1st year for the Evo.....original carb is junk (easy replacement with Keihen CV), saddlebag latches hard to open and close, probably some other upgrades over the years
But sorted out it's my only ride.
Several queries come to mind. Is this '84 a rubber-mount or solid mount? Both were made that year. Was the 5-speed introduced on the solid-mounts, or only the rubber-mounts? The early rubber mounts had an enclosed rear chain for a short while, before the rubber belts were introduced. I don't believe there were any solid mount Evo Glides?
