any thought whats going on I'm thinking the coils getting wet and shorting .
This could be related to many problems. I have found rain getting into bad connections, to battery terminals or power wires and lastly the rubbed wire exposed to rain water, all as likely as the other on our bikes unless you change wiring harness which I eventually did.
Yes, I would get a squirt bottle and start "shootin" looking to reproduce the issue while in the comfort of your garage and not out in the woods or on the side of the road.
My first thought is plug wires also. If not plug wires, then look for a crack in the coil case or the wires at or around your coil. YD
I chased these same issues with my 96 fxd. Replace wires and coil twice. My issue ended up being the ignition pickup in the cone. Replaced that with a dynatek and all was well.
