Thanks guys. I try to convince me it's been like that since I got it four years ago. I've been wondering if I should do the rocker lockers, but don't know... think I'll just ride it.
My ev27 makes for a loud top end when hot, adjustable rods set at 0.140" , new everything including rockers with the locker installed. Was a very quiet engine stock when I tore it down to be refreshed and " enhanced" slightly, I'm trying to get used to the racket it makes.
As noted above, dino oil is much better than syn when it comes to noise. My personal favorite is Spectro 25-60.... it really can make a difference.

In order to get a fair amount of lift combined with the shortest practical duration, the EV27 uses very "steep" opening/closing ramps, which will aggravate any valvetrain noise.
