Go to the H-D website and the Owners tab, enter your VIN and you will get details of your bike when it was new, including colour. That will confirm what it started out life as!
And congrats on the bike. Superglides are the best Harley model ever built. Post some more pictures when you get a chance. That seat looks like a sundowner too if I'm not mistaken.
I told my buddy the reason I get FXD's is because they're *THE* easiest to work on. One doesn't have near the crap to take off before even getting close to the part one needs to work on, like one has to do with a dresser. On the side of the road, this is the only bike I'd work on. Softail is next, depending on model, but the Glides are the best.
Evo low riders had spedometer and tach on the tank. This one has gas gauge and gas cap on tank. Its a superglide. Tach on bars is a factory option. It has a S&s carb too.

I've owned Harleys for over 40 years - don't recall when I last had to work on one on the roadside - except for fixing a few punctures!
You're spot on multihdrdr. I could tell the lower triple was aftermarket and the lowers look different by the way the fender mounts.
Edit: did you notice the 4 bolts under where the axle slides through? Those lowers and tubes aren't harley if I'm not mistaken. Or early harley(factory or aftermarket) I've never seen yet.
