so ive got a 06 SG with a 88ci carb. everything is stock and bike runs great, i recently put on bassanii slip on 4" DNTs and now i notice the right side pipe has alot of carbon build up and the left has none. and when cruising i feel a little hick up and seems to back fire more than before.. im wondering if i re-jet and add a air filter kit to it "stage one kit" would this make up for my issue i seem to be having?
no i have not checked my plugs to see if one cylinder is running rich...

First off, this is Evo-land not TC-country. I think you posted on the wrong forum.
Second, how many miles?
Third, how long have you owned it?
Forth, is the back fire in the pipes or out the carb?
But to answer your question I don't see how one cylinder could be lean and the other rich. "Right side has a lot of carbon build up and the left side has none" it's carbureted so the 2 cylinders share the same fuel delivery system unlike injected. So I don't think it's a fuel problem.
I would take a good look at the intake seals sounds like one of them is sucking air. I would also do a compression test to make sure each cylinder has close to the same compression.... You will need to check those 2 things first before you can start making changes to the carb....
..... when cruising i feel a little hick up and seems to back fire more than before.....
Sounds like you have a pre-existing condition, which the change of slip-ons has made worse, however they shouldn't be as different as you describe. It is not unusual for the two mufflers to show different colours, simply because they don't flow evenly due to the pipe layout. Follow 98hotrodfatboy's advice, to try and diagnose the actual cause before making any changes. Let us know what you find!
clean the carb an replace the fuel line...the ethanol in gas eats the rubber line up an little black gunk can be in the carb...won't cause a back fire but may cause it to hiccup while cruising from lack of fuel.
you can put new plugs in an ride it for a while an then look at the color...it can show rich or lean conditions. if you bike is stock I'd be very surprised it's rich since they come lean from the factory to meet epa requirements an increasing air an exhaust flow can add to it.
you may be seeing the difference in flow thur the two pipes ...(you must have dual exhaust ???) .. the right side is doing most of the work ...and the left side may actually be sucking air in ...which will cause the difference in color ...popping back thur the carb will be a sign of lean jetting also ..check for leaks around the intake manifold where it going into the head ..(spray carb cleaner around that area w/ the bike idling ...wil dip in rpm or kill if there is a leak) ..
i think everyone else has suggusted these checks already ..!!!
sorry for posting on the from forum but didnt know where to start with this. i was away all week so im going to dig in this week and figure it out, to answer some questions the bike has 43000km and i bought it from the Harley dealer in January. i also have a 1 year warranty with it so wondering if i should even get my hands dirty. but i am also good with motors but never worked on a Harley.. heres a pic of her. i blacked everything and did all the custom work. the bike was stock when i got it. the motor is still stock.
