Evo cams
Hi my name is Jerry I have a 94 fxds-conv with a high flow sure cleaner and baking plate and v&h longshots and no other engine work done aside a gasket every now and then I want to put a bolt in cam but not sure what one to go with some say EV27 some say s&s 510 some say SE3 SO CONFUSED ....help please
I think the ev27 is the se3. I've been wrong before. To me the ev27 is the best cam that is bolt in. I'm not sure I would swap it and cal her done but many have and many have reported back with big smiles on their faces.
Good luck,
Tom
Good luck,

Go with the 510V, quickee pushrods and hylift lifters. If you shop around you can find the S&S cam and pushrods competitively priced and possibly cheaper. Typically an Andrews cam is cheaper. The quickee pushrods are awesome. Hylift lifters are reliable and competitively priced.
Many are happy with EV27 and quickie adjustable push rods. New Torrington cam bearing, and lifters are highly recommended. You can get Johnson Lifters and they will work fine. That's probably most economical route. S&S stuff will cost more.

The first question you have to honestly answer is what kind of riding do you do. Are you usually solo or do you carry a passenger? How much gear do you usually carry? How heavy are you? How heavy is your passenger? What rpm does your engine spend the most time at? Do you ride a lot of steep inclines at high elevations?
The answers to these questions are what will determine the best cam for you and your bike. The reason is because there is no such thing as the absolute best cam for every possible situation. Every cam represents a compromise of some sort.
The thing to do is determine the cam that meets the requirements laid out on the aforementioned questions then select other components and modifications that will work with that particular cam in order to achieve synergy.
Evo's have been around so long that there is a vast knowledge base to draw from and their utter simplicity makes the work relatively inexpensive and very DIY friendly.

Gonna be lots of opinions on cams. I have a EV27 in my 97 flht and think it runs great, but have other mods to the carb, intake, and exhaust. I don't see how anyone could go wrong with it, but people will be chiming in soon to tell me that the power comes on too late and that there are better bolt in cams. Welcome to the madhouse
Like Prot says, where do you want your power down low EV-13 or little more up top with an EV-3 or EV-27. Then there's the V-thunder EVL-3000 or the EVL-3010. All good performers.... you
