Lots of great advice here. I recently performed the same procedure on my carb using these instructions:

Worked like a charm.

Well it wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. Everything went exactly as the links you all provided said it would. Got the elbow out and the new one pressed in with a bench vice. The carb leaked a little at first but that may have been residue because I rode for 7 hours today stopping several times and it never had any gas leaking out when I returned to it. Thanks everyone! New elbow pressed into place

Well, came out this morning to this... guess it isn't fixed. So where to go from here? Does the float need an adjustment?

No pet **** was on. It never leaks when petcock is turned off. Will it always leak if I leave the petcock on? I thought that was the whole idea of the float to prevent it from leaking?

The whole idea of a float is to maintain the correct amount of fuel in the float bowl.
It won't prevent leaks.

First thing to check is to see if the fuel came out of the overflow tube.
If it did I recommend cleaning the needle seat with polishing compound and q-tips.

It did come out the overflow tube and I have just gotten finished taking it all apart and cleaning everything, so everything is clean.

the float can be trickey but as a starting point if you are leaking from the overflow adjust the tab closer to the needle and seat, the need to clean the seat is if any thing is stopping the neddle from shuting the gas flowing into the carb the adjustment of the float wont matter good luck.
