IIRC the Harley mounts had grooves to hold the peg mount.
Like teeth on both sides that once bolted down there was no chance of slipping.
I do remember for sure noticing that there was a big difference between the two.
As for how much they cost all I can say is normally you get what you pay for.
You got that right sir!
As for the HD mounts, I might have to go and look at them as I have just tried the other suggestions, other than drilling and bolting, and had no real joy with the Kuryakyn mounts. Smooth chrome on smooth chrome just doesn't work effectively and, in hindsight, makes no sense to me at all.
I realize that Kuryakyn stuff is low end cost wise, but the reason I bought them initially was because I liked the pegs, more of a small board than a peg really about 6" X 4" (roughly). If I can keep those pegs/foot rests and have the HD mount then I'd be more than happy with that.
These are what I have:
Basically, if the HD "Clamp" will fit or attach to the Kuryakyn offset then as said, I'd be more than happy with that to get the security. In short, I want to keep the Pegs/Rests, or at least that type.

Hmm, that being the case I'm doing something wrong then, BUT, how many things can you do wrong attaching a clamp to a crash bar? You wrap the clamp around the bar, insert the bolt, tighten the bolt into the peg arm right ... am I missing something here?
The only thing I can (now) think of is I just don't have the "muscle" to tighten the bolt going through the clamp to the arm for the pegs enough
I will get some sleeve retainer loctite though and see if that helps any.
Just to be sure I am on the same page as you guys, I'd need to put the loctite on the inside of the "clamp" and maybe a bit around the crash bar where the clamp will attach because that is the only place things are going wrong.

I'd give it a good coating on the inside of the clamp....the entire surface area...then see if it helps.
Thanks and hopefully that works. Whats even more weird is that it is only the right side that is having issues, at the moment, but I'll re-do both of them none the less.
I would take a set of vernier calipers and measure your crash bars and the tightened inside diameter of the clamps fully closed.... It's possible that your crash bars are .015" smaller than others that's creating the problem.... If they are with in .010" of each other, remove the bolt and open the clamp enough to get a file in there and take a little of the material away so it will clamp tighter. without a pic I can't see exactly whats happening but its worth a try....
