I put 400$ s and s premium lifters in my wide glide are they worth it probably not but they are very quiet, I kept the stockers in the Fxr but do plan on going back in, easy access with adjustable push rods. Will probably go with s and s, some do small block Chevy lifters 20 bucks apiece. How about jims, woods, Andrews, all kinds of choices
He might get lucky with cam bearing , my 92 Fxr was manufactured in 7-91 and had the Torrington , early 92 still had the torringtons
does the bering mfg really matter? i mean i can get timken, skf, torrington, i have access too a wide variety of bearing mfg's since i order them for work Kman Technologies.
I did a top end rebuild on my 97 FLHTCUI a few winters and 18k miles ago. Installed the EV 13 and love it. Have nothing to compare it to other than the stock cam but really improved the bike. Also used the Hylift- Johnson lifters mention above with no issues. Be on the lookout for a cam bearing removal and installation tool if you don't already have one. You can probably find one on ebay or the forum classified. I couldn't find one when I needed it and ended up buying one and then selling on classifieds. I was out $20 but well worth it to have the right tool in my opinion. Good luck.
This is good advice. Keep the stock pushrods, and replace the bearing regardless with the Torrington (now owned by Koyo, B-138 bearing) but it is the full compliment roller bearings and not the bearing in the plastic internal cage. Even if you have the good old style, it is cheap money to replace and peace of mind.
Harbor freight has a blind hole puller set that gets good reviews for fair price also. YD
I would also recommend a cam cover pulller. Will make job easier. Loctite products and a bottle of assembly lube. .055 shim will get you in the ballpark with those two cam selection for end play.
My bike had 28 k on it and the bearing looked and felt fine , I guess if mileage was higher I would have, also kept my stock lifters in there for now , I did do the steel breather,
Bad advice. Harley recommends replacing the "A" lifters at 30K, you're already in there, replace them. Johnsons are around $100, why spend money on a cam and skimp here?

Wrong, you can't replace that bushing without getting it matched with a reamer. Good luck finding a shop that can do this. Leave it alone.

You can't put chevy lifters in. Johnsons are high quality and low price.
Why spend $400 on lifters and leave an $8 cam bearing in? Chevy lifters are said to be similar to twin cam lifters, not evo, they also have a smaller oil hole. I wouldn't do it.

Most go Koyo B138 its about $8 or so depending on where you get it. You can get it on ebay, local bearing house, indy, or direct from Heartland if you're buying the tool. Autozone will loan you one like someone recommended for free, takes 2 minutes to pull the old one out and costs nothing.
looks like it will be a fun winter. i was going to replace the bearing that was a given it open and it's cheap enough and kind of stupid not to replace it while replacing the cam, imho. looks like ill be doing lifters, didnt actually think about them, but again it's open im there im almost at 45k so better to be proactive then reactive..
Never told him not to do lifters,I said there are many options, I did not do mine but am going back in to do them. Never said u can replace bushing with out reaming , but what do u do if it has abnormal wear? As far as the 400 dollar lifters they went into my twin cam with all new bearings. I am not worried about the cam bearing in my Evo anymore
