Default SE Evo Heads

Could you install a set of SE Evo heads on this motor? Stock 1998 14K miles. Now last year I put a VThunder 3010 cam, new cam bearing and S&S lifters with Primo adjustable push rods. I was offered a set of New in the box SE Evo heads for real cheap. Id rather not change the cam again. From what I read the SE head can be used with stock pistons and will raise the compression to 9.5. What's your thoughts on just removing my heads and bolting the SE one on? Any gain to be had?

I have them on my '98 FLTR. The increase in compression is worth it, and your cam will probably like them. No other changes necessary.

Nice, a 98 with 14k mi. You have to pull your old heads any way and can have them built proly for less $. Mill a little off and use .030 head gaskets with that 3010 cam should do very well.

One of the advantages of the SE heads is that they have an excellent squish band so you can run crap gas & the engine won't ping.

Any one have actual stats on the SE heads, like port diameters, valve size and chamber cc's. What makes them better than stockers. also if you have a pic of the combustion chambers, I'd love to see it....

Dave, What's real cheap?

That is a good price..... If it's truly a bolt on, I would think a no brainer..... Still would be good to know the specs..... Hey you remember that tail light, the 55? it's sitting on the shelf. Got it for half price.....

Ran a set of them, 72 cc bathtub chambers, raised ports, 575 lift bee hives, ball parks around $700 in price, turns a stocker into 9.5-1. Compression bump will always help, raised port design won't be noticed on the street, can be real nasty heads with some work and a larger cam, my head guy said he can get more street power out of stock heads BUT $600 for the work.

At $300 dollars for bolt on power and still have the stock heads, it is a no brainer Was my understanding that the valve seals that came on them was junk and best to install some Viton seals

Here's a picture of the SE heads on my 93 incher. Reworked by Paul Hannan, but this will give you a basic idea about the shape of the combustion chamber.

I had these heads on my '95 FLHTC ... made a HUGE difference. I was running Mikuni carb ... Andrews EV27 cam ... Crane ignition ... and was quite disappointed with the performance until I added these heads.
