I still run the evo in my 93 fxrs-sp. I was in the same boat. Wanted more power, wanted to keep from going broke. I ended up with a similar build to my friends fxr. Called david Mackie. Got a Makie kit built, cam, heads, higher compression, compression releases, mikuni, ignition, header, and tuning and a little more. Had them put in compression releases for easier starting as well. When it was all said and done, I watched them dyno it and easily hit 100hp/100ft. I was happy with it. Its still very reliable and kept it at 80 inch. Short of the compression releases its hard for most to tell anythings been done. That being said, I have a few friends with newer dynas with 103/107's or whatever with cams and all that and I have never had a problem keeping up, most I have actually managed to pull.
Listen to hotrod, call Scott. My jugs, heads, manifold, and carb are headed to him now. I am going with the woods w6h for more low end grunt. I think she is gonna be an animal. Hillside is very reasonable and they stock and sell quality parts that are about the best prices I have found.
As others have said the 2-2 pipes rob power. I just bought a crusher 2-1-2 power cell pipe, I don't know if it will be as good as a 2-1 but should significantly help and retains the 2 pipe look. Jp has them for super cheap right now.
These guys have you pretty much lined up on what you might want to do. I'd advise following their suggestions as they are on point 100%.
The more power angle is never ending and is tough on the wallet. It can be done over a longer period by careful purchases on a thought out plan, but most can't do that if they have the itch.
All I can say is the S&S 111 is verrry nize. If your planning on ridding for several more years you will be glad you spent the extra dollars. The power and life of the engine will probably out last you.
Drove thru a local watering hole tonight and several new TC where parked. Everyone eating outside. Everyone checking out the dragster Evo Lobbing thru the lot. So yea its even fun going slow.
