1993 Heritage Classic
It was supposedly 're-commissioned' two years ago and underwent an MOT (vehicle safety test in the UK) and passed with the only advisories being the tyres were original and probably should be changed soon and the same on the brake hoses. The seller mentioned something about some engine internal plastic components that he was told should be changed as well.
Now the questions;
What should I be looking at on something with so few miles? I know the standard Evo issues, like base gaskets and case cracks in the lifter block area, but is there anything else for that year etc.?
Also, what plastic components could he have been told about? The only things I know that are plastic/nylon are, the primary chain guide and the breather valve. Is there anything else?
Thanks in advance
There is a reason the MoCo uses a plastic gear. If any metal particles find their way into the breather chamber they'll embed themselves harmlessly in a $10 plastic gear instead of your expensive engine cases. If something's going to get chewed up, I'd just as soon it's a cheap breather gear.

- tyres, including valve stems,
- brake hoses - be aware your bike uses DOT5 brake fluid,
- fuel lines,
- change all oils, three reservoirs, plus front forks.
Buy yourself the factory service manual, available from your local friendly dealer, not any of the cheap and nasty aftermarket brands. You may also have to consider wheel bearing rubber seals, even the bearings themselves. As it has been standing for so long they may suffer from local failure, where the rollers have been pressing on the races (called Brinelling).
